We are committed to helping our clients understand their house, its systems, and its needs.

Dan Sommer worked as part of a Custom Home Building Team doing framing and finish carpentry in the late 1980's and was a journeyman carpenter before making Alaska's Copper River Valley his home in 1990.
Various construction jobs led to obtaining the Alaska Residential Endorsement in 1996 to further the work of the company that employed him.
The residential endorsement, which requires extensive and continued training, is required by the state of Alaska to ensure that contractors understand building science principals enabling them to build high quality energy efficient homes.
In 2005, SOMMER ENTERPRISES was formed in the Mat-Su valley and licensed as a General Contractor with the State of Alaska. SOMMER ENTERPRISES was involved with the construction of duplexes in the Mat-Su area along with many smaller construction projects, remodels and repairs.
Continuing education led to receiving the Building Analyst certification from the National BUILDING PERFORMANCE INSTITUTE in 2011. This national certification is required for Alaska Housing Energy Raters. The associated training covers aspects of a home's building performance, such as, the building envelope, natural and mechanical ventilation requirements and standards (BAS- Building Airflow Standard), combustion safety and testing for weatherization retrofits, and general building science knowledge. Certification from AHFC as a Building Energy Retrofit Technician Contractor followed, along with a Commercial Energy Audit training program.
The Master Course certificate from American Home Inspectors Training Institute was earned in April of 2011.
AHIT awards 300 education hours for succesful completion of this course.
